Sustainability

We do our best to minimize our environmental footprint!

Sustainability is important to us!

We attach great value to sustainability and organize this event as sustainably as possible. By booking their tickets, participants support the following measures:

Food and catering

  1. We use only porcelain and glass dishes - everything is washed and can be reused.

  2. We offer vegan and vegetarian dining options and try to keep the carbon footprint of the food to a minimum.

  3. The Estrel Hotel tries to make the kitchen as regional as possible. I.a., the hotel manages its own 45 sqm greenhouse on the roof of the hotel for its own kitchen, uses regional suppliers from the Berlin-Brandenburg region and produces its own bee honey, for instance.

  4. Unused food is to be reused in the hotel. Through "Estrel Share," snacks and meals from surplus production are made available free of charge to Estrel employees. Additionally, the "Too Good To Go" app distributes surplus food that would otherwise end up in the trash can to those in need.

Arrival, mobility, visitor behavior

  1. The conference hotel is best reached by public transport. The Sonnenallee train station can be reached from the airport and main train station in about 30 minutes - and the train is the recommended way of travel in Berlin.

  2. We offer all participants discounted conditions with Deutsche Bahn, encouraging them to arrive by train.

  3. The hotel provides charging facilities for electric cars in the underground garage.

  4. The conference will take place at one location. The conference venue and hotel rooms are within walking distance.

  5. During the event, we avoid CO2 emissions from transfers and overnight stays at locations far from the event.

Energy, heating, accommodation

  1. Throughout the conference hotel, room temperatures are actively controlled and lowered overnight.

  2. Energy-saving bulbs and devices are used in all rooms and spaces of the hotel.

  3. The hotel operates its own 160 kWh photovoltaic system to produce electricity for its visitors.

  4. The CO2 emissions associated with rental laundrys (including towels, bed linen, tablecloths, etc.) at the hotel are calculated and offset by means of greenhouse gas compensation in a certified reforestation project in Colombia.

Advertising materials, prints, furniture

  1. We try to avoid print materials as much as possible and communicate digitallyfor the event. Our conference app enables participants to have a good conference experience on site without print documents.

  2. The booth construction on site is carried by the stand builder with reusable Octanorm walls. Also the furniture used for the booths and in the venue is rented and reused multiple times.

  3. Furniture from the conference hotel is used on site for seating, catering and other needs. No furniture is delivered to the hotel, thus minimizing emissions.

  4. Excess promotional materials are mostly sent back to our partners and sponsors for recycling.

  5. Participant management is entirely done digitally.
